The Association of Independent Specialist Medical Accountants (AISMA) has appointed a new leadership team, after Deborah Wood and James Gransby stepped down from their roles as Chair and Vice Chair at the 2025 AISMA AGM.

Lizzy Lloyd, Healthcare Partner at East Anglia accountancy firm Larking Gowen LLP becomes Chair, while Jim Duggan, Medical Director at South West England accountancy firm Albert Goodman LLP and Abi Newbury, Managing Director at South East accountancy firm Honey Barrett, become Vice Chairs.

Pete Farrier, Director at Hampshire accountancy firm Morris Crocker and Guy Vine, partner at MHA's Maidstone office, both join the AISMA board.

AISMA is a national network of accountancy firms specialising in the healthcare sector. Speaking about her appointment, Lizzy Lloyd said, “This is an exciting time to be leading AISMA, which has been an influential force in my own career as a specialist medical accountant over the last 25 years. The training, networking and support provided to accountants whose firms are members of the Association are exceptional.”

The Association's recent annual conference saw the launch of the AISMA NextGen group, who will be helping to evolve the Association's offering in the coming years. This will include the development of a new AISMA Academy which will be providing a new suite of online training tools for those new to medical accounting.

Lizzy Lloyd added: “It was great to see such energy and enthusiasm for the AISMA NextGen initiative at the conference. I'm looking forward to seeing AISMA flourish with the support of my fellow AISMA board members and the AISMA NextGen group during my time as AISMA Chair.”
